Manufacturing Technician (Full Time)

Location: Monroe Twp, New Jersey

Salary Range: $35.00 to $37.00 Hourly

The Role:

OPT is seeking a skilled builder with expertise in constructing, testing, and refining mechanical and electrical assemblies. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong problem-solving abilities, adaptability to emerging technologies, and a meticulous approach to troubleshooting. Proven capability to work independently while effectively collaborating within a small, fast-paced team is essential. A proactive mindset and the ability to maintain focus under pressure are key to success in this role.

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the production manager, you will be part of the production and prototyping team and work closely with the engineering team. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Build electrical and mechanical assemblies from both detailed (production) drawings as well as back of the envelope (prototype) drawings. Prepare as-built drawings, packing lists, and QC related documentation.
• Perform QC on 3rd party and in-house components as well as assemblies.
• Test electrical and mechanical assemblies.
• Collect and interpret test data.
• Assist in updates to QA program and documentation. Follow manufacturing best practices for the marine environment and robotic systems.
• Design, set up and maintain dedicated workstations, tools, manufacturing jigs and tools.
• Maintain, clean, and organize production and prototyping floors.

Required Qualifications:

• Approximately 3 years of hands-on experience with mechanical and low voltage systems
• Proficiency with small hand and power tools
• Familiarity with mechanical and electrical assemblies
• Ability to work with minimal direction while knowing when to ask for input or help
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing work quality
• Positive and hardworking attitude; ability to function well with a team and remain calm under pressure
• Willingness to work overtime, as needed, prior to critical deadlines

Desired Qualifications:

• Electrical and electromechanical assembly build-out and testing
• Experience with machine tools (mill, lathe, etc.)
• Experience in TIG or MIG welding aluminum
• Bachelor鈥檚 or Associate鈥檚 degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, marine engineering, or a related field
